The Evolution of our Planet’s Life and the Last Revolution to Save Us as Humans Beings

Revolution Movie

We honor and admire author Rod Stewart’s remarkable journey of courage and determination changed from its original mission to save the world’s sharks, into a fight for life, that of humankind.

In an effort to protect them, award winning filmmaker Rod Stewart teamed up with renegade conservationist Paul Watson of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. The adventure started with a battle between the Ocean Warrior and shark poachers in Guatemala, resulting in several pirate boat rammings, corrupt court systems, and attempted murder charges, forcing them to flee for their lives.

Through such an exploration, biologistphotographer, and conservationist Rod Stewart discovered these magnificent creatures have gone from predator to prey, and despite surviving the earth’s history of mass extinctions, they could easily be wiped out with a few years of human greed.

Empowering Environmental Education through Citizen Science and Biodiversity Research

Citizen Science and Biodiversity

According to a recent new study, citizen science has the potential to address some of the biggest concerns and challenges facing biodiversity researchers. This study has found that volunteers already save biodiversity research huge sums of money; but, that their contributions are underused by the scientific community.

The effect of global change on biodiversity is difficult to monitor, as change is occurring at a global scale over long periods of time. The resources needed to track and analyse in detail the effects of climate change, pollution, invasive species, land use change and overexploitation are huge.

However, citizen science approaches may help scientists and researchers to effectively tackle biodiversity issues and environmental problems in a way that is not prohibitively expensive.

A New Financial Instrument to Promote Projects on Natural Capital and Ecosystem Services

Natural Capital and Ecosystem Services

The European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB) have launched a new financing instrument – the Natural Capital Financing Facility (NCFF) – for projects promoting the preservation of Natural Capital, including adaptation to Climate Change.

In December 2014, the EU Commission and the EIB have signed an agreement entrusting the EIB with the management of the NCFF, that will be developed by blending EIB funding with EC financing funded by the LIFE budget.

The NCFF will provide innovative financial solutions to support bankable projects, which have the potential to be revenue-generating or cost-saving, promoting the conservation, restoration, management and enhancement of natural capital for Biodiversity & Ecosystem Services (BES) and climate adaptation benefits, including ecosystem-based solutions to challenges related to land, soil, forestry, agriculture, water and waste.
